Terms:

• Short Term Contract Position

Reporting To:

• Firmware Team Lead

Primary Responsibilities:

• Embedded systems development from concept to manufacturing and support.
• Develop hardware drivers for signal acquisition hardware, flash, ADC and other devices.
• Develop embedded user interfaces for avionics systems.
• Evaluate hardware/software requirements for new products
• Evaluate and choose suitable hardware/software solutions for new products
• Proof of concept solutions for new products
• Technical documentation to meet Transport Canada Requirements.

Skill & Personality Requirements:

• Experience with devices such as Flash, CPLD, ADCs/DACs, DDS
• Experience with RS485, CAN 2B, USB, SPI.
• Experience with processors such as ARM, Rabbit, Texas Instruments and Intel.
• Ability to write clear, concise technical documentation.
• Ability to take responsibility for work and ensure quality and timely completion.
• Excellent communication, planning and time management skills.

Required Experience:

• 10+ years experience in firmware or embedded systems development.
• Demonstrated ability to manage own projects.

Additional Assets:

• Experience with Rabbit single board computers or ARM processors.
• Knowledge of avionics, the aviation industry and satellite communications are all considered assets.

Education:

• 2 year diploma and 8 years experience in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Candidates who meet a subset of the requirements are encouraged to apply.
