Club Penguin is an innovative virtual world website for kids ages 6 - 14 which was acquired by The Walt Disney Company in August 2007.

We are looking to expand the growing team of skilled, conscientious employees who are needed for a fast growing online game for kids. We are a community oriented company with a fun and dynamic workplace located in Kelowna, BC, Canada.

Description of the Position:

The Software Engineer is responsible for developing, enhancing and maintaining Club Penguin server-side web functionality, customer support tools, commerce processing, and related databases.

Responsibilities:

Develop, enhance, and maintain payment-processing systems.
Enhance internal customer support tools and public Club Penguin server-side websites.
Third-party integrations as required.
All other duties as assigned by the Manager, Software Engineering.

Qualifications:

College degree in Computer Information Systems (CIS) or similar
3+ years PHP experience
3+ years MySQL or similar DB experience
3+ years Linux experience
3+ years e-commerce experience
Experience with Python
Experience with Java a plus
Experience with Javascript a plus
Strong OOP background a plus
Software/Language proficiencies: PHP, Linux, MySQL or other SQL, Database language, Eclipse, SVN
Fluent in English.
