The Kelowna Family Y currently has a 5,000 sq. ft. fitness/conditioning room area, a 1,500 square-foot aerobics studio, 8-lane 25 meter pool with separate dive tank, small leisure pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room, and two multi-purpose rooms. We have nearly 4,000 members and a high number of public drop-ins and are planning for growth with expansion plans that include a gymnasium, walking track, youth zone and two additional multi- purpose rooms.
Member Services Representatives are key team members to the overall operations and positive customer experience at the Kelowna Family Y. Reporting directly to the Member Services Director, Member Services Representatives are responsible for welcoming all customers and members, performing routine cashiering and clerical work, processing membership sales, and answering telephone and counter enquiries. General office duties such as filing system maintenance and general typing/keyboarding are also expected. However the main objective is to increase membership sales and program participation and retain existing members with excellent ongoing customer service.
Major Responsibilities and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of Business English, spelling, punctuation and arithmetic.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively resolve conflict
- Ability to work within a busy, customer centered environment, managing several tasks simultaneously
- Flexibility to work irregularly scheduled hours including early mornings, evenings and weekends
- Support and promote volunteerism and philanthropy
- Enter data and process transactions in CLASS registration software system
- Accurate keyboarding ability (50 wpm) and working knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
- Receive, record, and balance daily shift deposits and prepare floats.
Qualifications:
- Ability to start work at 5:15am
- Completion of Grade 12
- Minimum 2 years experience in providing excellent customer service
- Minimum 1 year experience working in an office environment
- Current Emergency First Aid and CPR or willing to obtain it within 3 months of employment
- A satisfactory Criminal Record Check
- Computer and cash handling experience
- Ability to work flexible hours including mornings, evenings, and weekends
- Personal interest in health & fitness
