Summary:

The company is looking to expand its business through aggressive sales and well managed service delivery. We seek a General Manager who can drive growth in a corporate environment optimized for technology services companies. The ideal General Manager (GM) understands how the company's products and services deliver customer value and use this knowledge to expand the company's markets.

The General Manager is a decisive individual who is driven and motivated with a focus to grow the company through well coordinated teamwork. Company success is based on a team of skilled and energetic individuals that develop and support products and deliver client services; effective utilization and ongoing development of this team is a key success factor for the company's future.

The General Manager is the focal point for coordinating employee and customer communications with respect to long term plans as well as day to day operations. Driving sales team performance in prospecting, activity management, proposals and closing sales are key sales management responsibilities for this position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Work with other executives on the management team to build a high performing company that delivers consistent results and meets our Triple Bottom Line goals of Employee, Customer and Financial satisfaction.

You will manage the sales and marketing team on a day to day basis to:

  • Meet revenue and margin targets and then drive these targets higher
  • Ensure that sales and marketing activities are managed and prioritized to maintain the required pipeline
  • Identify new markets and formulate an approach to these markets
  • Expand the reseller channel as appropriate
  • Work personally with key clients or partners
  • Work closely and cooperatively with other companies in the group to deliver projects and develop new business
  • Manage sales and marketing documentation with respect to the company's products and services.

You will also manage key business planning and organizational processes as they relate to the company and its parent company.

Customers:

  • Maintain positive customer relationships through involvement in client seminars, site visits and other key events.
  • Key “who’s who” contact for escalated customer issues.

Employees:

  • Communicate strategies and vision to all employees on a regular basis.
  • Monitor employee satisfaction and proactively address employee issues.
  • Ensure staffing levels are appropriate and employees are properly trained.
  • Provide leadership to the management team
  • Prepare performance reviews for your direct reports.

Suppliers:

  • Manage and expand relationships with suppliers

Business Strategies and Vision:

  • Guide the management team in developing strategies and plans.
  • Anchor the team in monitoring progress and reporting accomplishment against plan.
  • Provide direct communication channel for executives from the parent company.

Products and Services:

  • Through the relevant managers, ensure that a multi-year strategy for product development is developed and maintained.
  • Through the relevant managers, develop new services for existing and new customers.
  • Ensure all new products and services undergo a thorough cost/profit analysis.

Finance:

  • Participate with management in the annual planning cycle.
  • Review monthly financial statements and operations reports.
  • Provide input into process improvements related to financial reporting.
  • Review AR Aging reports and follow-up with clients where required.
  • Approve AFE’s, Sales Contracts and New Hire requests.

Ensure the Delegation of Authority is followed and respected.

Experience:

  • 10 years management experience, with 2 or more years in sales management and 3 years in a general management position
  • Comprehensive understanding of pipeline and sales activity management
  • Experience in managing a reseller channel
  • Desirable to have experience with municipal software systems, particularly: Operations & Public Works, and/or GIS

Education:

  • Essential: University Degree in business or equivalent experience.
