General:

The GM understands the municipal marketplace and how the company's products and services are positioned to fit customer requirements. Development of best practices around product development and renewal to meet changing market demand is a key focus area.

The General Manager is a decisive individual who is motivated and possesses a strong initiative to extend the company’s activities into new market places while maintaining strong satisfaction within the company’s considerable existing client base. This individual must be capable of managing the company’s interrelationships with its clients and its major partner, Microsoft and leveraging these relationships to maximum effect. The General Manager has primary responsibility for achieving the Triple Bottom Line (Employee, Customer and Financial satisfaction).

Internal Contacts:

  • Professional Services Department, to successfully transition customers from the sales process to implementation and to develop new forms of consulting services.
  • Knowledge Services Department, to ensure customer satisfaction, transfer knowledge and direct activity.
  • Research & Development Department, to transfer knowledge and ensure product management is well managed, technology is evolved as required and new products are brought to market.
  • Sales – ensure that the company’s leading market position is maintained and exploited fully.

External Contacts:

  • Clients, prospective clients and consultants, partners or other influencing individuals , answering their questions, positioning the company as a gold standard provider.
  • Parent and sister companies to coordinate joint sales and report information
  • GSD Finance Group - providing financial services, accounting and payroll.
  • Microsoft – for marketing and sales support, promote the company visibility within Microsoft and its Partner Network, conferences and technical advancement.

Experience / Skills:

  • A minimum of 5 years in a senior management position
  • University Degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong understanding of municipal software marketplace.
  • Understanding of the Microsoft product stack and how it relates to the company’s solutions.

Knowledge Base:

  • Must have firm understanding of general management, complex sales and application software solutions.

Education:

  • Degree, Diploma or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Accounting, Marketing or related fields.

Principal Functions:

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Day to day leadership of the management team
  • Establishing a premiere market presence
  • Championing product development evolution
  • Driving customer technical and consulting services to a high level of quality and reputation.
  • Overall responsibility for the Triple Bottom Line

General Responsibility:

Customers

  • Maintain positive customer relationships through involvement in client seminars, site visits and other key events.
  • Key “who’s who” contact for escalated customer issues.
  • Direct billable activities with clients as they arise.

Employees

  • Communicate strategies and vision to all employees on a regular basis.
  • Monitor employee satisfaction and proactively address employee issues.
  • Ensure staffing levels are appropriate and employees are properly trained.
  • Provide leadership to the management team
  • Prepare performance reviews for direct reports.

Business Strategies and Vision

  • Guide the management team in developing strategies and plans.
  • Anchor the team in monitoring progress and reporting accomplishment against plan.
  • Provide direct communication channel for COO and parent company executives.

Products & Services

  • Through the relevant managers, ensure that a multi-year strategy for product development is developed and maintained.
  • Through the relevant managers, develop new services for existing and new customers.
  • Ensure all new products and services undergo a thorough cost/profit analysis.
  • Renewal and Product Management

Sales & Marketing

  • Ensure evolution of price lists
  • Actively engage in marketing and sales activities.
  • Ensure the pipeline supports the company’s revenue targets.

Finance

  • Lead management through annual planning process.
  • Review monthly financial statements and operations reports.
  • Provide input into process improvements related to financial reporting.
  • Review AR Aging reports and follow-up with clients where required.
  • Approve AFE’s, Sales Contracts and New Hire requests.

Vendor relationships

  • Active dialogue to position the company appropriately with the client and the partner.
  • Update and revise agreements as required by changing market conditions.
  • Position the company within the Microsoft ecosystem as an award winning Partner.

Other duties to be determined

  • Ensure the Delegation of Authority is followed and respected.
