Summary:

Our client is recruiting for a Deputy Director of Engineering to provide support to the Director of Engineering.

Responsibilities include:

• Senior role in the design, management, operation and maintenance of municipal infrastructure including roads, drainage sewer and water utilities design, management and administration;
• Development and monitoring of capital and operating budgets;
• Providing direction through development of standard engineering policies and procedures;
• Technical review of projects;
• Preparation and presentation of reports on a variety of engineering related topics to management and other stakeholders.

Essential Skills/Experience/Qualifications

• Civil Engineering undergraduate degree;
• Already registered or eligible for registration, with APEGBC;
• Minimum of 5 years experience, primarily dealing with municipal and related infrastructure;
• Effective project management skills;
• A proven team player, able to work collaboratively with both internal teams and external organizations and individuals;
• Strong organizational skills and multi-tasking skills in the face of numerous priorities;
• Good oral and written presentation skills;
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to deal calmly and effectively with a wide range of external organizations and individuals;
• Competence with a variety of business software applications and the willingness to learn.

Additional Skills/Experience/Qualifications that would be an asset:

• Experience in the private sector;
• Experience in leading teams is preferred.
