Women's Enterprise Centre (www.womensenterprise.ca) is the go-to business resource for women entrepreneurs across BC, providing business loans, training, advice, mentoring & other resources. We have an opening in our Kelowna office for an: Accounting and Contract Admin Officer

This is an intermediate to senior administrative position with duties performed under a minimum of supervision. The duties include a variety of routine and non-routine accounting functions in accordance with standard policies and procedures, along with financial claim preparation. A good understanding of basic accounting principles is required. This position also includes a small amount of Human Resource and Contract Administration functions. Women s Enterprise Centre is a non-profit society reporting to a government funder so knowledge of fund accounting would be an asset.

Core Functions

  • General Office Administration - fully support the Chief Executive Officer, responsible for coordination of computer systems maintenance and nightly server backups, maintain contractual agreements;
  • Human Resources Privacy officer, assist with recruitment, assemble performance reviews, prepare annual employment contracts, monitor overtime, sick and vacation time;
  • Accounting responsible for all accounting procedures and documentation, Accounts Payable, monthly bank reconciliations, quarterly financials and advance claims, preparation of documents for the annual audit, budget preparation, analysis and update, implementation and updating of financial controls policies;
  • General Travel arrangements, proofreading and research support as required.

The ideal candidate possesses:

  • The ability to handle a wide variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines;
  • Related accounting/clerical experience;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills, and a high degree of self-motivation;
  • Strong computer skills;
  • Able to maintain confidentiality at all times;
  • Big picture thinker.

Qualifications include:

  • 5+ years of professional experience preferably as an entrepreneur;
  • Post-secondary diploma in business administration and accounting.
